Hi, I'm Maria
I am a project manager. I'm a parent. An expat residing in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Relocating to Portugal wasn’t part of the long-range plan. Like many moves for expats, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than they should have been.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Norel Thavix
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourist content. What was missing was candid, everyday family viewpoints.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical guidance grounded in real life in Portugal.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical insights gained from living in Portugal
- Centered on family living and daily realities
- Updated when there is a real change
This site is not:
- A tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we discover.
If you have any questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Maria
